Emmett McCoy comes from a long line of coal miners and ne’er-do-wells. The McCoys tend to go one of two directions in life. They either toil underground for a livable wage, or they toil in the shadows for the illusion of freedom. Emmett is one of the latter. He skirts the law on principle. He is proud of the fact that he is over 160 years old and has never held a job a day in his life. He has been in jail more times than he can remember, but still considers himself a free man.
Emmett left Earth in the early 2000’s when he met a ne’er-do-well from another planet. He and Zweelax became friends and traveled around the galaxy together. His friend eventually died. Emmett wound up living in a space station in an unsavory part of the galaxy selling junk, or “artifacts” as he puts it, and dealing drugs.
He was a marijuana farmer in Kentucky. Over the years, Emmett bred his pot with various alien plant species. He has created a diverse and rare collection of mind-altering hybrids. One of these special breeds has extended his life.
Emmett was elected by the crew of the pirate ship Snallygaster to be their captain.
